Boos wins again at El Paso

18 cars made the trip down to Calhan Colorado’s aEl Paso County Raceway, and were treated to a beautiful day and a great track surface. The racy 1/4 mile oval was recently revived with a lot of new clay. 3 heat races were run, and won by #0 BJ Sauer, #9F Andy Flood and #61 Jesse Fernandez. The feature was a great race starting out with the #3J driven by Joel Mellon taking the lead. A yellow flag on lap 3 regrouped the field with the #39x Dakota Dillin close behind the leader Mellon. As the race reached the halfway point, a red flag was thrown for the flipped #9F Andy Flood. He was okay and rejoined the field with a bent up wing. After the restart #24B Johnny Boos took over the lead, but sneaking up from his 13th starting spot #26 Chris Crowder took over second nearly passing Boos. This was Boos 5th win in the ten races this year. Third place was #3J Joel Mellon, with #1 Troy Ullery and #32 Blair Cooper rounding out the top 5. The remainder of the finishing order was #86 Jenn Woods, #7 Josh Flood, #31 Steve Becker, #9F Andy Flood, #61B Lance Bennett, #61 Jesse Fernandez, #57E Steve Estrada, #0 BJ Sauer, ##39x Dakota Dillin #13 Josiah King, #82 Jason Woods. Johnny Boos wins his first at El Paso County

16 Lightning Sprints made the trip back to El Paso County Raceway after a few weeks off. Mother Nature rained out the heat races, but the track crew and racers packed in a bad fast smooth racetrack . Since there was no qualifying and no heat races, the feature was lined up by pill draw. #31 Steve Becker led the first couple laps, then #24B Johnny Boos took the lead and never looked back. Jason Woods in the #82 took over second on lap 7 trying to run down Boos, followed by Becker, #39X Dakota Dillin and #7 Josh Flood. Lap 13 saw the first red as Becker ran over the infield berm running into the #33 car of Gayle Ingram causing him to flip several times. Both drivers were OK but unable to continue. A lap after that red another red flew for second place #82 Jason Woods flipped in turn one. He was okay and able to join the rear of the field with a bent up wing. #26 Chris Crowder drove from the eleventh spot to try to run down the leader Boos. When the checkered flew it was #24B Boos, #26 Crowder, #39x Dillin, #7 Flood, #86 Jenn Woods, #3J Joel Mellon, #1 Troy Ullery, #82 Jason Woods, #9F Andy Flood, #32 Blair Cooper, #13 Josiah King, #0 BJ Sauer, #23 Cullen Potoker, #10 Ken Brown, #31 Steve Becker and #33 Gayle Ingram.

Chris Crowder wins Don Flood Memorial at I76

14 Lightning Sprints raced the second half of our Independence Day doubleheader at Butch Speichers I76 Speedway in Fort Morgan, CO. For the Don Flood Memorial Race. Two heat races were won by #26 Chris Crowder and #82 Jason Woods. The feature was a great race. #82 Jenn Woods took the lead for the first third of the race. #26 Chris Crowder took the lead and never looked back capturing his first win with his new car. #82 Jason Woods tried a last lap pass but fell short finishing second two nights in a row. #86 Jenn Woods (wife of #82 Jason) finished third to round out the podium. #24B Johnny Boos and #1 Trou Ullery rounded out the top 5.The rest of the finishing order, #9F Andy Flood, #61 Jesse Fernandez, #3J Joel Mellon, #7 Josh Flood, #00 Jacob Hazlitt , #0 BJ Sauer, #33 Gale Ingram, #39x Dakota Dillon and #31 Steve Becker.
